abstract "preferred male tissue regulatory region and method of using it". The present invention relates to an isolated nucleic sequence encoding the preferred male tissue regulatory region ms45. In one aspect, this invention relates to the use of this preferred male tissue regulatory region in fertility mediation. An example of such use is hybrid seed production, such as in a male sterility system. the preferred male tissue regulatory region may be operably linked to exogenous genes, such as those encoding cytotoxins, complementary nucleotide units and inhibitor molecules. This invention also relates to plant cells, plant tissue and differentiated plants containing the regulatory region of this invention.
