titleOfInvention pearlescent pigments From the coating of muscovite with rare earth oxides
abstract PEARLIZED PIGMENTS FROM MUSCOVITA COVERAGE WITH RARE EARTH AIDS. The present invention relates to the synthesis of pearlescent pigments based on muscovite-like mica coatings with rare earth oxides. The muscovite used is Brazilian, native from the pegmatitic province of the Borborema-Seridó region (border between RN and PB). For the synthesis of the pigments the precipitation method was used. The muscovite used in the synthesis was micronized to a particle size of less than 45 µm. To cover the mica were used cerium precursor reagents (Ce) and praseodymium (Pr), which made it possible to obtain new types of pearlescent pigments. The pearlescent pigments obtained showed different colors according to the type of oxide used as coating: mica-CeO ~ 2 ~ (yellow), mica-PrO ~ 2 ~ (brown - dark gray) and mica-Ce ~ (1-x) ~ Pr ~ (x) ~ O2 (orange).
