abstract | METHOD FOR PRODUCING GENETICALLY MODIFIED PLANTS WITH ABILITY TO CONTROL THE PRODUCTION OF ETHYLENE HORMONE, GENETICALLY MODIFIED PLANTS SO OBTAINED, RECOMBINANT DNA VECTOR AND ITS USES The use of constitutive promoters to control plant gene expression has been an important tool in molecular biology . However, in some cases, precise temporal regulation is desired to characterize the function of a gene at a specific time during plant growth and development. Additionally, for many genes, constant induction leads the plant to deleterious and undesirable phenotypes. In this setting, the ethanol-induced expression system, the alc expansion system, has been used successfully in tomatoes, potatoes, arabidopsis, and tobacco. A valuable application of this type of system is the use in sugarcane plants to control maturation using ethanol as an inducer, replacing the application of plant regulators. The present invention describes a method for producing transgenic plants using a DNA vector that comprises the alc system in the regulation of the ScACS1 gene and, consequently, in the control of ethylene biosynthesis. Additionally, the uses of the method and the vector are also described. |
