WATER AGLUTINANT COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF TREATING SUBSTRATES WITH THE WATER AGLUTINANT COMPOSITION. The present invention obtains thermoset aqueous binder compositions of one or more diprimial diamines, eg mill, or poly (primary amines), eg poly (ethylene imine), and one or more reducing sugars in which the number of amino group equivalents primary for carbonyl groups in reducing sugar ranges from 0.4: 1 to 2.1, the binders being suitable for use on fiber, non-woven fabric, woven fabric and finely divided substrates. The binders are at least substantially free of formaldehyde, do not require a polycarboxylic or polycarboxylate component, and still provide excellent resistance to hot wet traction when cured for as little as a minute or less in use. |
