SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE GENETICALLY MODIFIED AND ITS USE The innovation now proposed concerns the genetically modified yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae through the insertion via plasmid (pYEP-PGK) of the xylA gene of the bacterium Burkholderia cenocepacia, which provides the modified yeast with the expression of the enzyme xylase. The present invention also includes the use of said genetically modified yeasts in the fermentation of glucose and xylose from biomass hydrolysates, such as sugarcane bagasse, for the production of ethanol. |
