PROCESSES FOR MAKING MONOAMMONIUM SUCCINATE AND/OR SUCCINIC ACID FROM FERMENTATION BOOTS CONTAINING DIAMOND SUCCINATE. The present invention relates to processes for making monoammonium succinate (MAS) and/or succinic acid (SA) from a fermentation broth containing purified diammonium succinate (DAS) or a fermentation broth containing purified MAS, which include (a) distilling the broth to form a top that includes water and optionally ammonia and a liquid bottom that includes MAS or SA; (b) cooling and/or evaporating the bottom and optionally adding an anti-solvent to the bottom to achieve a temperature and composition sufficient to cause the bottom to produce a solid portion containing MAS or SA in contact with a liquid portion; (c) separating the solid portion from the liquid portion; and (d) recovering the solid portion. |
