feed stock for reduction in an electrolytic cell, as well as a process for reducing a precursor material to form a reduced product |
abstract |
feed stock for reduction in an electrolytic cell, as well as a reduction process for a precursor material to form a reduced product. the invention relates to a supply stock for reduction in an electrolytic cell, for example, a non-metallic supply stock that can be reduced to metal on a commercial scale. the feed stock comprises a plurality of three-dimensional elements which are shaped so that a volume of the feed stock has between 35% and 90% free space (not including any microscopic porosity of the elements). the elements are also shaped as elements that can be packed randomly to minimize any deposition, ordering or alignment of the supply stock, which may otherwise prevent or prevent fluid flow and / or current flow through the supply stock. |
