The present invention relates to a computer-implemented system and method for performing video compression. for example, a method according to an embodiment comprises: encoding a plurality of video frames or parts thereof according to a first encoding format; transmitting the plurality of encoded video frames or parts to a client device; receiving feedback information from the client device, feedback information useful in determining whether data contained in video frames or parts has not been successfully received and/or decoded; in response to the detection that a video frame or part thereof has not been successfully received and/or decoded, encode a video frame or part thereof in accordance with a second encoding format; and transmit the video frames or parts thereof to the client device. |
