titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS-tolerant plants, their uses and recombinant DNA vector |
abstract | METHOD FOR PRODUCING TOLERANT PLANTS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS, ITS USES AND RECOMBINANT DNA VECTOR. Plants are influenced by a large number of biotic and abiotic environmental factors and recurrently abiotic stresses are more severe, affecting all plant functions, resulting in reduced growth and productivity. In this sense, the identification and understanding of abiotic tolerance mechanisms are fundamental in the development of new drought tolerant cultivars. Thus, the present invention provides a plant production method which contains in its cells a sequence of sugarcane nucleotides and overexpression of this gene leads the plant in question to greater tolerance to abiotic stresses. More broadly, a polynucleotide encoding the sugarcane protein which is expressed by a plant-working promoter and terminator is described. It is found that this gene confers tolerance to different abiotic stresses. |
