METHOD TO RESIST RESISTANCE TO CITRUS DISEASES CAUSED BY INSULTS, FUNGI OR BACTERIA OR OOMICETES OR NEMATIDES. It consists in modifying the accumulation and emission levels of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes in citrus, as a mechanism of resistance to pathogens and pests. Alteration of the content of d-limonene and other terpenes is achieved by the introduction via genetic transformation of a gene encoding an enzyme with d-limonene synthase activity, either from citrus or from another plant or other living organism, in antisense or RNA interference-inducing molecule (RNAi) form. Genetic modification is performed through Agro bacterium tumefaciens or any other method of genetic transformation of plants from protoplasts or plant explants. The construction is incorporated in citrus genotypes or similar genera of the Rutaceae family, with the purpose of reducing the accumulation and emission levels of monoterpene and precursor compounds and / or their derivatives, both in leaf level, as flowers and fruits. |
