titleOfInvention | process for starch cationization |
abstract | Process for starch chaffing. Described herein is a process for starch cationization comprising the steps of providing a starch powder having a moisture content of no greater than 5% by weight of the total starch weight and reacting it with boron trifluoride (BF ~ 3 ~). ); The reaction may be carried out by feeding a continuous flow of starch powder into a turbo-reactor comprising a cylindrical tubular body (1) provided with at least one opening (5, 6) for the introduction of starch and boron trifluoride. and at least one outlet opening (7), a possible heating or cooling jacket (4), a blade rotor (8), rotatably supported on the cylindrical tubular body (1) in which it is rotated and a higher speed than 150 rpm, so as to disperse the continuous starch stream into a starch particle stream; a continuous stream of BF ~ 3 ~ gas is also fed into the turbo reactor and the starch particles and BF ~ 3 ~ gas are centrifuged against the inner walls of the turbo reactor, forming a thin, fluid, tubular, dynamic layer. highly turbulent, obtaining the reaction of the starch with the BF ~ 3 ~ gas in the thin layer while substantially advancing the inner wall to the outer opening (7) of the turbo-reactor. |
