abstract SYNERGIC IMMUNOGENIC COMPOSITIONS BASED ON PROTEIN ANTIGENS COMBINED WITH CELL ANTIGEN PERTUSSIS AND INACTIVATED TOXINS. The present invention relates to synergistic immunogenic compositions for preventing pertussis and infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. Additionally, the compositions of the present invention may offer protection against infections caused by other pathogens through the synergistic combination of antigens thereof. In particular, the present invention provides synergistic immunogenic compositions which comprise at least one inactivated Borcletella pertussis cellular antigen and at least one protein antigen comprising one or more Streptococcus pneumoniae A surface proteins (PspA) or fragments thereof. The present invention further provides synergistic immunogenic compositions comprising at least one inactivated Bordetella pertus.sis cellular antigen, at least one protein antigen comprising one or more Streptococcus pneumoniae A surface proteins (PspA) or fragments thereof and one or more diphtheria and / or tetanus toxins. The present invention also relates to the use of one or more synergistic immunogenic compositions of the present invention in the manufacture of combined vaccines for prevention of pertussis, tetanus, diphtheria and / or infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae. The present invention further relates to the use of the compositions of the present invention in the manufacture of vaccines for prevention of pertussis, tetanus, diphtheria and infections caused by Streptococcus pneurnoniae.
