The invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyhalogenated trifluoromethylanilines primarily useful as a reaction intermediate for the preparation of agrochemicals. The products of the inventive method are obtained by the action of ammonia on 3,4 dialobenzotrifluoride at a temperature ranging from 200 ° C to 300 ° C. The reaction is performed in the presence of an alkaline compound. The obtained intermediate is halogenated with halogenating agents such as sulfuryl chloride, chlorine and PCL-5 to obtain 2,6-dialo-p-trifluoromethylaniline.
