titleOfInvention glued laminated wood crosshead
abstract GLUED LAMINATED WOODEN CROSS. The present invention relates to the glued laminated wooden crosspiece. Initially, a theoretical evaluation of the crossheads' strength and stiffness was carried out, determining the minimum mechanical properties required for the wood veneers, in view of the standard dimensions normally used in the crosspieces, so that they resist the loads stipulated by the technical standards . Thus, the visual classification and the mechanical classification were carried out so that the best quality blades are applied in the regions of greatest efforts in the crosspieces. This treatment is essential in the case of species from planted forests, as they have less natural resistance to attack by xylophagous organisms. The crosspieces are also waterproofed with vegetable resin (polyol and prepolymer) in order to increase protection against bad weather, assist in the process of preservation and degradation by UV rays and improve electrical insulation. Finally, stamped plates were placed at the ends of the crosspieces, thus avoiding cracking and detachment, and pegs were placed in the unused holes.
