Virtual reality pipe welding simulator. A real-time virtual reality welding system that includes a programmable processor-based subsystem, a space tracker operably connected to the programmable processor-based subsystem, at least one false welding tool capable of being spatially tracked by the space tracker and at least one display device operably connected to a processor-based programmable subsystem. The system is capable of simulating, in the virtual reality space, a weld pudding that has real-time heat dissipation and molten metal flow characteristics. The system is also capable of displaying simulated weld pudding on the real time display device. |
