abstract |
process for producing a superabsorbent polymer. The present invention relates to a process for producing a superabsorbent polymer comprising: (a) preparing an aqueous mixture of selected monomers to provide, after polymerization, a superabsorbent polymer, (b) feeding said monomer mixture into a (c) subjecting the aqueous monomer mixture in the reactor to free radical polymerization to obtain a superabsorbent polymer gel, and (d) removing the superabsorbent polymer gel from the reactor, (e) drying the superabsorbent polymer gel removed from the reactor. and thereafter at least one stream of exhaust gas removed from any stage of the process is washed with a basic aqueous solution before being led to obtain an aqueous scrubbing solution that is at least partially recycled to either step. (a) to (e) of the process. |
