titleOfInvention process to produce a terephthalic acid and / or isophthalic acid
abstract process to produce an aromatic dicarboxylic acid. the invention relates to an improved energy content in and recovery of the shaft power from an output gas from xylene oxidation reactions, while at the same time minimizing the cost of wastewater treatment. more shaft power is produced using the outlet gas than is required to drive the main air compressor, even with preferred relatively low oxidation temperatures. simultaneously, a larger amount of waste water than water by-product from the oxidation of xylene is kept in the form of steam and treated together with the pollutants of the outgoing gas in a self-sustained gas oxidative thermal destruction unit (self -feeding). optionally, outlet gas is combined from multiple xylene oxidation reactors, comprising primary and / or secondary oxidation reactors and forming tpa and / or ipa. optionally, an air compressor condensate and a caustic purifier purge are used in a tpa process or as service water, effectively eliminating the normal flow of liquid wastewater from a tpa plant. optionally, pet outlet gas containing pet-forming water is treated in a shared thermal oxidative destruction unit, effectively eliminating the normal flow of liquid wastewater from a combined px-a-tpa-a-pet plant.
