Top charcoal is one of the most devastating maize diseases causing severe production losses worldwide. The present invention describes the fine mapping of an important QTL that confers resistance to top carbon. Useful markers for cultivation and methods of conferring resistance to top carbon are described. A nucleic acid sequence of the genetic locus that confers resistance to top char is described. Genes that encode proteins that confer resistance to top char are described. |
