titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR FORMING A PRINTED ELASTIC COMPOSITE, AND ELASTIC COMPOSITE |
abstract | Printable Elastic Composite The present invention features a composite containing a laminated elastic film for a meltblown coating. During lamination, openings and discrete bonding sites can be simultaneously formed in the elastic film. discrete binding sites may be located near (adjacent to or near) a perimeter defined by corresponding openings formed by the displacement of the film. The location of the attachment sites adjacent to or near the openings may increase the durability of the meltblown coating by stretching the surrounding area of the openings. furthermore, the content of the elastic film and the rolling temperature / pressure may be selected such that the film has sufficient adhesion to adhere to the coating in regions other than those fused together by the embossed roller connecting elements. such a secondary bond further stabilizes the meltblown coating and makes it suitable for printing. In addition, the film is under tension in the direction of the machine during lamination. subsequent to lamination, however, the film is retracted so that the coating retracts toward its original machine direction length, thereby gathering and forming folds. It has been found that these folds have a relatively small amplitude (height) as well as a substantially uniform frequency across the surface of the coating. This small height and increased regularity improve ink transferability to the "peaks" of the folds, thus improving print quality and uniformity. |
