abstract | composition for the selective inhibition of serotonin absorption and its process. the present invention relates to a new synergistic pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting the absorption of serotonin, wherein such composition includes pentacyclic terpenoid glycosides, preferably asiaticoside and madecassoside optionally together with excipients. the present invention also relates to excipients; a process for preparing the new synergistic pharmaceutical composition to inhibit serotonin reabsorption, where the process includes the steps of: (a) obtaining the extract of the centella asiatica plant; (b) treatment of the extract with solvents to remove fatty substances, chlorophyll and other dyes; (c) purifying the extract through hplc to obtain the eluted solvent; and (d) concentration of the eluted solvent to arrive at the composition. the invention also relates to the composition and use of a composition including pentacyclic terpenoid glycosides, preferably asiaticoside and madecassoside optionally together with excipients to manufacture a medicament for inhibiting serotonin reabsorption in a subject who needs it. |
