abstract The present invention relates to a portable, inexpensive disposable breathalyzer produced simply using readily available materials. The Disposable Breathalyzer was developed with the objective of providing a low cost device, affordable and that meets a requirement of safety and absolute hygiene of the applicator and user. It enables greater employment flexibility, reliability and social acceptance. The device is a system composed of a plastic folding straw containing an alcohol sensitive reagent in a solid support, contained in an individual, sealed and transparent package. This device allows the user to determine their ability to drive simply by blowing on the top of the straw and checking the color change of the reagent contained therein. If the color changes from yellow to green the user has a higher alcohol content than allowed to drive. The simplicity, low cost and practicality of using this disposable breathalyzer offers the user a simple and affordable way to test their blood alcohol level, thus avoiding accidents, fines and deaths.
