titleOfInvention radioactive seed manufacturing process for brachytherapy through neutral activation of a xenan-124 doped amorphous carbon matrix and product
abstract Manufacturing process of radioactive seed for brachytherapy through neutron activation of a xenon-124 doped amorphous carbon matrix and product. This patent describes a process of producing radioactive seeds for treating malignant tumors by brachytherapy. The seeds described in the present invention are formed by a biologically compatible matrix coated with a xenon-124 doped amorphous carbon film which grows in a high vacuum environment by assisted double ion beam deposition. Subsequently, this xenon-enriched carbon matrix is taken to a nuclear reactor and subjected to thermal neutron irradiation.
