Patent of Invention: "PREPARATION OF PHOSPHATE OR ALUMINUM POLYPHOSPHATE PARTICLES". The present invention relates to a process for preparing a phosphate-based pigment or an amorphous aluminum polyphosphate by reacting aluminum phosphate and sodium aluminate. Amorphous aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate is characterized by a skeletal density of less than 2.50 grams per cubic centimeter and a molar phosphorus to aluminum ratio greater than 1. In one embodiment, the composition is useful in paints such as a substitute for titanium dioxide. |
