abstract agglomerated zeolitic adsorbents, process for obtaining adsorbents, para-xylene recovery process, processes for separating sugars, polyhydric alcohols, substituted toluene isomers, and cresols. The present invention relates to zeolite x-based agglomerated zeolitic adsorbents having a ratio of si / al such that 1.15 <si / al <243> and consisting of crystals with an average diameter of 1.7 < At least 90% of the exchangeable zeolite x cationic sites are occupied by barium lions. they can be obtained by agglomerating zeolite x powder with an average particle diameter of 1.7 µm or less with a binder, then zeolitizing the binder, exchanging zeolite lions with barium lons (and potassium) and activating the adsorbents thus exchanged. These adsorbents exhibit excellent selectivity, reduced mass transfer resistance and mechanical strength, and these adsorbents are especially suitable for the adsorption of para-xylene contained in liquid phase C ~ 8 ~ aromatic hydrocarbon fractions. simulated moving bed type processes and especially for the separation of para-xylene from the C8-8 aromatic hydrocarbon fractions by adsorption, but also for the separation of sugars, polyhydric alcohols, cresols and substituted toluene isomers.
