abstract | REDUCING LOSS OF HAZARDS IN VISCOELASTIC TENSIVE DRILLING FLUIDS USING LOW WEIGHT WATER SOLUBLE POLYMERS. The present invention relates to the addition of relatively low molecular weight water soluble friction loss reducing polymers to an aqueous viscoelastic surfactant (VES) gelled fluid that increases the critical Reynold number in which the friction factor of Fanning increases and the friction pressure begins to increase rapidly. Water soluble polymeric friction loss reduction additives decrease surface pumping pressure in VES-gelled fracturing fluids at a given absorption rate, thus lowering the hydraulic horsepower (HHP) requirements for pumping fluid from the rock bottom, for example for hydraulic billing or fracture treatment of underground formations. |
