abstract |
Aqueous ophthalmic solution and use thereof. The present invention relates to ophthalmic aqueous containing a combination of hyaluronic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for example sodium hyaluronate and polyvinyl alcohol. These solutions have a synergistic effect on vicosity and obtain statistically significant improvement over prior art formulations. The solutions are employed as artificial tears for the treatment of dry eye syndrome and eye discomfort and may be administered in any case where the use of artificial tears is recommended. The solutions are also suitable for use as a vehicle for ophthalmic drugs. |
