ANTIBODIES RECOGNIZING AN EPITOPO CONTAINING CARBOHYDRATE ON CD-43 AND CEA EXPRESSED IN CANCERIGENE CELLS AND METHODS OF USE OF THE SAME. The present invention provides novel antibodies that specifically bind to an epitope on CD43 or CEA expressed by non-hematopoietic cancer cells, but do not specifically bind to a leukocyte or Jurkat cell expressed CD43 and is capable of inducing apoptosis of cells. non-haematopoietic carcinogens following epitope binding on the cell surface of the non-haematopoietic cancer cell in the absence of cytotoxin conjugation and immune effector function, where the epitope comprises a carbohydrate structure and antibody binding to the epitope is inhibited by a carbohydrate comprising it. a Le? a? structure, a Le? a lactose structure, a LNDFH II structure or an LNT structure.
