titleOfInvention | method for enhancing yield-related characteristics of plants, plants or parts thereof, construction use of a plant, plant part or plant cell construction, method for producing a transgenic plant, harvestable parts of a plant, products, use of a nucleic acid, isolated nucleic acid molecule and isolated polypeptide |
abstract | METHOD TO INTENSIFY CHARACTERISTICS RELATED TO YIELD IN PLANTS, PLANT OR PART OF THE SAME, CONSTRUCTION, USE OF A CONSTRUCTION, PLANT, PART OF PLANT OR VEGETABLE CELL, METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A TRANSGENIC PLANT, HARVESTED PRODUCTS, HARVESTED PLANTS, OF A NUCLEIC ACID, NUCLEIC ACID ISOLATED MOLECULE, AND ISOLATED POLYPEEPTIDE. The present invention relates to a method for enhancing yield-related characteristics in plants by modulating expression of a particular type of NAC transcription factor in plants. The particular type of NAC transcription factor is one having a sequence of amino acids, which when used in construction. of a NAC phylogenetic tree, tends to group with the group of NACs comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 51, SEQ ID NO: 53, SEQ ID NO: 55, SEQ ID NO : 57 or SEQ JD NO: 59 instead of with any other NAC group. The present invention also relates to plants having modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding such a NAC transcription factor, whose plants have improved yield over control plants. The present invention further relates to a method for enhancing plant-related characteristics by modulating plant expression of a nucleic acid encoding an AP2-2 polypeptide. The present invention also relates to plants having modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding an AP2-2 polypeptide, whose plants have enhanced yield-related characteristics compared to control plants. The present invention further relates to a method for enhancing characteristics related to plant yield by modulating plant expression of a nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide type APETELA2-70 (type AP2-70). The present invention also relates to plants having modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding an AP2-70 type polypeptide, whose plants have enhanced yield-related characteristics compared to control plants. The invention also provides nucleic acids encoding NAC, AP2-2 and type AP2-70 hitherto unknown, and constructs comprising the same, useful for carrying out the methods of the invention. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention. |
