MODIFIED BACTERIOCINS AND METHODS FOR USE. The present invention relates to modified forms of naturally occurring bacteriocins, such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa type R pyokines, are described. Bacteriocins are modified at the ends of their caudal fibers in a region responsible for binding specificity and affinity for their cognate binding pairs, or receptors, such as those on the surface of bacteria. Methods for using modified bacteriocins, such as to bind receptors, including virulence or suitability factors, on bacterial surfaces are also described. |
