abstract | Method of Producing Coniferous Somatic Embryos In one aspect, the present invention provides methods of producing coniferous cotyledon somatic embryos from pre-cotyledon embryos. The methods of this aspect of the invention include the step of a) dispensing a plurality of pre-cotyledon embryos into a horizontally disposed porous material on a non-porous surface in a volume of sterile dilution medium sufficient to submerge at least the surface of the porous material, thus dispersing evenly the prec cotyledon embryos; b) removing the sterile dilution medium from the porous material by trapping the pre-cotyledon embryos evenly dispersed in the porous material; and c) placing the pre-cotiledonary embryos trapped in the porous material in contact with the development medium for a period of time sufficient to produce coniferous cotyledon somatic embryos. |
