titleOfInvention safrol enrichment process
abstract SAFROL ENRICHMENT PROCESS. The present invention concerns an important step within the processing of bioproducts, such as safrol rich essential oils. The invention herein relates to the enrichment of safrol from safrol-containing mixtures resulting from the extraction of safrol from plants rich in this component. The enrichment process utilizes the activated carbon bed adsorption and desorption operations. The adsorption operation is followed by desorption using alcoholic solvent which contains the desorbed enriched essential oil. The method utilizes simple and user-friendly equipment as well as allows, through a low time consumption and low financial cost, the enrichment to reach a higher safrol content than the methods currently employed.
