abstract | PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES FOR BATTERIES. The present invention relates to batteries. In some embodiments, a battery may include a housing that includes an opening with a maximum area of 5.16 mm ^ 2 ^ (0.008 square inch), an anode and a cathode inside the housing, and a membrane. The membrane can cover at least a portion of the opening, and can include at least one polymer. The membrane can have an area of, at most, about 105 percent of the opening area. |
