PROMOTER SEQUENCE OBTAINED FROM RICE AND METHODS OF USE |
abstract |
promoter sequence obtained from rice and methods of use. Methods are provided by which oryza saliva plants and seeds thereof can be modified to express a coding region of interest using a promoter sequence operably linked to the coding region. the promoter sequence is an isolated oryza saliva antiquitin (osantl) promoter sequence, including sequence: 1. the coding region of interest may encode a nitrogen utilization protein, suitably alanine aminotransferase. Also presented are methods of developing oryza sativa plants which have increased biomass and seed yield. In addition, oryza sativa plants can be produced which maintain a desired yield while reducing the need for high levels of nitrogen application. |
