abstract | COMPOSITIONS FOR ORAL TREATMENT UNDERSTANDING ZINC AND PHYTACT. The present invention relates to compositions for oral treatment and their use, comprising an acceptable vehicle for oral use: (a) from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight, of an essentially insoluble zinc post in water, and (b) from about 0.01% to about 10%, by weight, of a compound having COP bonds selected from polyphosphorylated inositol compound, such as phytic acid, myo-inositol pentaquis (dihydrogen phosphate), myo- inositol tetrakis (dihydrogen phosphate), myo-inositol triquis (dihydrogen phosphate) and an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof. The compositions are effective in preventing and controlling the conditions of the oral cavity, including plaque, calculus , cavities, peno-dontal disease, unpleasant mouth odor and dental erosion, and have an acceptable aesthetic, without the unpleasant astringent and metallic taste associated with the use of zinc. |
