titleOfInvention | USE OF AN ANTIBODY THAT RECOGNIZES IL-6 FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION TO TREAT MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION OR SUPPRESS LEFT VENTRICULAR REMODELING AFTER MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION |
abstract | AGENT TO TREAT MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION AND TO SUPPRESS LEFT VENTRICULAR REMODELING AFTER MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION AND USE OF THE IL-6 INHIBITOR. The present invention relates to the effects of anti-IL-6 receptor antibodies in improving the condition of infarcted areas in myocardial infarction, and in suppressing left ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction. As a result, administration of anti-IL-6 receptor antibodies significantly suppressed increased MPO activity in the infarcted area and suppressed myocardial MCP-1 expression in both the infarcted and non-infarcted areas. In addition, echocardiographic and histological examinations revealed that cardiac hypertrophy is also suppressed. |
