process for obtaining a natural concentrate rich in hydroxytyrosol from olive residues and by-products using clean technologies. The present invention relates to a process for obtaining a natural, bioactive, hydroxytyrosol-rich concentrate from olive residues and by-products using clean technologies. These technologies include supercritical fluid extraction, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, which are used individually or in an integrated mode. The natural extract comprises a minimum concentration of 15% (mass fraction) of hydroxytyrosol and a maximum concentration of 98% (mass fraction) of this compound. The hydroxytyrosol-rich concentrate exhibits antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic activities, which are superior to the activities observed for hydroxytyrosol alone, in equivalent concentration, the hydroxytyrosol-rich concentrate can be prepared as solid particles as a aqueous solution, in emulsion or as lipid based nanoparticles. Industrial application comprises the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. |
