titleOfInvention | aqueous dispersion of hybrid particles, and process for preparing an aqueous dispersion |
abstract | WATER DISPERSION OF HYBRID PARTICLES, AND, PROCESS FOR PREPARING A WATER DISPERSION. An aqueous dispersion of hybrid particles consisting of inorganic or organic pigment particles and organic nanoparticles attached to the surface of the pigment particles, the nanoparticles having a particle size between 2 and 200 nanometers. Preferably, the nanoparticles have a glass transition temperature of at least 120 ° C and include copolymers of vinyl monomers and a mixture consisting of maleic anhydride and maleic anhydride derivatives. In a process for preparing this aqueous dispersion in copolymer of vinyl monomers and maleic anhydride it is treated in water with a compound having the general formula R-NH2 in which R is H, alkyl with 1 to 18 carbon atoms or aryl, and in the presence d one or more inorganic pigment particles, at least 35% of the maleic anhydride groups being transformed into imide groups. |
