abstract PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A POLYOLEFINE FILM. The present invention relates to a process for producing a oriented polyolefin film using multi-component polymeric compositions. A polymeric component comprises an isotactic propylene homopolymer produced by the polymerization of propylene with a Ziegler-Natta catalyst. A secondary component is a statistical ethylene-propylene copolymer polymerized with Ziegler-Natta or a statistical copolymer polymerized with ethylene propylene produced by the polymerization of propylene and ethylene in the presence of a metallocene polymerization catalyst. The copolymer polymerized with Ziegler-Natta is produced by the polymerization of ethylene and propylene in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst and contains no more than 0.5% by weight of ethylene, and has a soluble xylene content of at least 2% in weight. The primary and secondary polymeric components are mixed together to provide a mixture in which, when the secondary component is a Ziegler-Natta polypropylene, it is present in an amount in the range of 5-25% by weight and the secondary polymeric component is a cupomer based on metallocene present in an amount less than 5% by weight. After mixing the two polymeric components together, the mixture is extruded and formed in a biaxially oriented film.
