abstract | USE OF A COMPOUND AS A STRUCTURER IN AN EPOXY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE, EPOXY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE COMPOSITION, AND PROCESS FOR BINDING SEPARATE SURFACES. The present invention relates to the use of a compound as a stiffener in an epoxy structural adhesive, said compound comprising an elastomeric prepolymer residue selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyurea, polyurethane polyurea having isocyanate end groups, isocyanate end groups said prepolymer residue being capped by a capping compound selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heteroaromatic and araliphatic primary amine, an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic, heteroaromatic and araliphatic secondary amine, a thiol and a alkyl amide, said capping compound being attached at the end of the polymeric chain of the elastomeric prepolymer such that the end to which it is not attached has a reactive group. |
