abstract | Patent of Invention: Aqueous Composition of Zinc Nickel Alloy Galvanization and Method for Deposition of a Zinc Nickel Alloy on a Substrate. The invention provides an aqueous zinc-nickel alloy galvanizing composition particularly useful in a galvanizing method for depositing a zinc-nickel alloy layer onto a substrate, wherein the deposited layer exhibits a uniform and good nickel concentration. aesthetics over a wide range of current densities. The galvanizing composition comprises an electrolyte composition and an organic composition. In one embodiment, the letrolyte composition comprises a zinc ion source, a nickel ion source, a pH buffering agent and at least one additional salt, and the organic composition comprises a Class 1 nickel rinse aid. Class II nickel brightener, an aromatic carboxylic acid, an aldehyde or ketone compound, and a nonionic or anionic surfactant. The galvanizing composition is particularly free of chelators and free ammonium product agents. |
