METHOD FOR INCREASING THE ACTIVITY OF AN (ALPHA) -GLUCOSITY ENZYME IN A CELL AND METHOD FOR TREATING POMPE'S DISEASE |
abstract |
PAPA METHOD TO INCREASE ACTIVITY OF A <244> -GLUCOSIDASE ENZYME IN A CELL AND METHOD FOR TREATING POMPE DISEASE. The present invention provides a method for enhancing the activity of a mutant or wild type β-glycosidase enzyme in vitro and in vivo by contacting the enzyme with a specific pharmacological chaperone which is a 1-deoxinojirimycin derivative. The invention also provides a method for the treatment of Pompe's disease by administering a small-molecule plaqueerone compound which is a 1-deoxinojirimycin derivative. The 1-deoxinojirimycin derivative is substituted at the N or C1 position. Combination therapy with β-glycosidase gene or enzyme substitution is also provided. |
