titleOfInvention | class d enzyme inhibition method in the treatment of a bacterial infection in a patient in need thereof; and method for treating bacterial infection or disease in a patient in need thereof |
abstract | Method of inhibiting class D enzymes in the treatment of a bacterial infection in a patient in need of it; AND METHOD FOR TREATMENT OF BACTERIAL INFECTION OR DISEASE IN A NEEDED PATIENT. This invention relates to certain 6-alkylidene penem compounds, which act as a class D enzyme inhibitor. The β-lactamases hydrolyze the β-lactam antibiotics, and as such serve as a cause of resistance. bacterial. The compounds of the present invention, when combined with? -Lactam antibiotics, will provide effective treatment of life-threatening bacterial infections. In accordance with the present invention there are provided compounds of formula 1 which are useful for the treatment of bacterial infections having class D enzymes associated therewith: wherein: one of A and B denotes hydrogen and the other a heteroaryl group. optionally substituted fused tricyclic; and X is S or O. |
