SOLID CONCENTRATE, PROCESSES FOR PRE-FORM PRODUCTION, AND FOR DRYING PARTICLES, AND POLYESTER POLYMER CONCENTRATE. A solid concentrate having a combination of a transition metal present in an amount ranging from 1,000 to 40,000 ppm (weight per metal) and a polyester polymer present in an amount of at least 40% by weight based on the weight of the concentrate is presented. . Concentrates made from highly modified polyester polymers are easy to be composed of transition metals, forming brittle polymers upon melt extrusion. Bottle preforms and oxygen removal bottles can be made from these concentrates by combining polyester solid particles, polyamide solid particles, and solid concentrate particles into a melt processing zone, forming a melt, and forming an article directly from the cast. Color b * and color L * and preform turbidity levels are improved over preforms made with liquid vehicles rather than solid concentrates. The particles are also advantageously simultaneously dried in a drying zone under conditions effective to at least partially remove moisture from the mixture, thereby further improving color b * and color L *. |
