titleOfInvention | aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate, paint, pigment product based thereon, manufacturing process of white pigment and respective pigment |
abstract | aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate particles for use as pigments in paints and a method for making them. the present invention relates to a pigment product based on aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate through a process comprising contacting phosphoric acid with aluminum sulfate and an alkaline solution to produce an aluminum phosphate based product; and optionally calcining the product based on aluminum phosphate at an elevated temperature, where the process is substantially free of an organic acid. The pigment based on aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate is amorphous. amorphous aluminum phosphate or polyphosphate characterized by a volume density less than 2.30 grams per cubic centimeter and a molar percentage of phosphorus-aluminum greater than 0.8. the composition is useful in paints and as a substitute for titanium dioxide. |
