HYDROPHOTO SALTS OF METAL HYDROXIDS IN LAYERS. The present invention relates to hydrophobic layered metal hydroxide salts obtainable by the addition of a layered metal hydroxide salt which contains trivalent, bivalent and optionally monovalent metal cations and a or more organic anions A of formula (I) XRY (I) wherein X represents hydrogen, hydroxy, carboxy, sulfate or sulfo; Y represents carboxy, sulfate or sulfo and R represents an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocycloaliphatic, olefinic, cycloolefinic, heterocycloepharic, aromatic, heteroaromatic, araliphatic or heteroaraliphatic radical of 2 to 50 carbon atoms in which one or more substituents may be contained. hydroxy, amine, halogen, C 1 -C 2 22 alkyl, C 1 C 22 alkyl alkoxy, C 1 -C 22 alkylene (CO) O (CH 2) 2 ~ CH ~ 2 ~ O) ~ 0-50 ~ -alkyl, C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 22 ~ -alkylene- (CO) -O- (CH ~ 2 ~ CH ~ 2 ~ O) ~ 0-50 ~ -halogenoalkyl, carboxy, sulfo, nitro or cyano, in intensely mixed dispersion, one or more hydrophobic compounds of the group of waxes and metal soaps in an amount of 0,2 to 200% by weight, relative to the hydroxide salt of metal and if necessary remove the liquid medium, dry and isolate as a powder.
