abstract | "Method and apparatus for measuring cell wall maturity or thickness of a cellulosic fiber sample" means a method for measuring the maturity or cell wall thickness of a cellulosic fiber sample including the steps of: (a) exposing the fiber sample to polarized light; b) capturing one or more sample images by cross polar lenses and a compensating plate so that the images include sample interference colors; and c) conduct computer analysis of the images captured in step b) to determine the cell wall fiber cell maturity or degree of thickness by comparing the images to reference color interference data.
