APPARATUS, DEVICE AND METHOD FOR RELEASING FOAM, KIT AND ASSEMBLY |
abstract |
"apparatus and method for releasing foam". a foam transfer device (600) is described for use with an aerosol container apparatus for producing a sclerosing foam for the treatment of varicose veins among others. The device enables diversion of an initial amount of specification foam below from the dump container, for example, to an integral dump chamber, before releasing an additional amount and foam for use in treatment. switching the flow from the dump chamber to a different outlet (618) for use is performed without interrupting the flow from the aerosol container as this would cause the foam to fall back to specification again. the dump chamber may be transparent such that foam entering it may be observed and a decision made by a user when to stop diverting foam for dumping. alternatively, the foam may be diverted automatically, for example when an adjusted time has elapsed or an adjusted volume of foam has been released. The foam for use is usually released into a syringe for subsequent injection into a patient's varicose vein. |
