Various non-limiting embodiments set forth herein provide methods for fabricating alignment features for optical inks connected to an optical substrate. for example, a non-limiting embodiment provides a method for fabricating an alignment feature for an optical ink connected to at least a portion of an optical substrate, such as an ophthalmic substrate, by forming at least a partial covering comprising at least material. of partially ordered liquid crystal on at least a portion of the substrate. other non-limiting embodiments refer to optical elements, such as, but not limited to, ophthalmic elements, which comprise an alignment feature for an optical ink. Still other non-limiting embodiments provide alignment capabilities for optical inks comprising covers or sheets of at least partially ordered liquid crystal material.
