abstract "Active cathode material comprising an additive for improving the discharge performance and secondary lithium battery using such material" describes an active cathode material that provides a cell with performance that is not adversely affected by over discharge, and a lithium secondary cell using such material. more particularly, the active cathode material for a secondary lithium cell includes a lithium transition metal oxide capable of lithium ion intercalation / de-intercalation, where the active cathode material includes a manganese lithium oxide having a structure layered represented by the following formula 1 as an additive: [formula 1] where, x is a number satisfying 0,05 <243> x <0,5 em is at least a metal selected from the group consisting of cr, al, ni, mn and co. the manganese lithium oxide of formula 1 used as an additive for an active cathode material of a secondary cell of lithium provides lithium ions in such amount that compensates for an irreversible reaction that consumes lithium ions in an anode or more, thereby providing a secondary lithium cell that has low capacity loss when overcharged.
