The present invention provides an antitumor effect enhancer for enhancing antitumor activity of an antitumor agent comprising tegafur in a therapeutically effective amount, gimeracil in an antitumor enhancing effective amount, and oteracil potassium in an effective inhibitory amount of an antitumor. side effect, the antitumor effect enhancer comprising at least one member selected from the group consisting of folinic acid and its pharmacologically acceptable salts in an amount effective for enhancing an antitumor effect; an antitumor agent comprising, as active ingredients, tegafur in a therapeutically effective amount, gimeracil in an antitumor-enhancing effective amount, oteracil potassium in an amount effective to inhibit a side effect, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of folinic acid and its pharmacologically acceptable salts in an amount effective for enhancing an antitumor effect; a process for enhancing an antitumor effect of an antitumor agent comprising the step of administering to a patient the antitumor effect enhancer mentioned above; and a process for treating cancer comprising the step of administering to a patient the antitumor agent mentioned above.
